Frequently Asked Questions
Martingale collars or greyhound/sighthound collars are a perfect choice for stylish hounds with narrow heads, or other dog breeds who want to benefit from the martingale system.
They’re like magic! The collar has two loops - a large one for the head and a small one with a D-ring attached. When your hound pulls, the small loop tightens, keeping their head safe and secure without choking. Say goodbye to an accidental slip out!
When there’s no tension, it sits comfortably and snuggly on your dog’s neck. No need to constantly adjust it either - it only tightens when engaged and goes back to normal when the tension is gone.
Sighthounds have sleek and slender heads compared to other dog breeds. This makes slipping out of regular collars very easy for sighthounds.
With its clever two-loop design, a martingale collar keeps your hound’s head secure and prevents any accidental escapes. It only tightens when engaged and goes back to normal when the tension is gone.
Dahound martingale dog collars aren’t just for sighthounds. Although our martingale collars are specially made for sighthounds with slender necks, they’re for all fashion forward pups who want to benefit from the martingale system!
Put it simply, if it fits your pup, you can enjoy a Dahound martingale collar too!
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you’re unsure about sizing.
Dahound martingale dog collars are adjustable but not made with the quick release buckles unlike most regular collars.
Simply slide the collar over your dog’s head and adjust the overall length of the collar by using the adjusting buckle, which works just like a bag strap!
To ensure that it’s fitted properly, pull the D-ring and check if two buckles touch each other. If they do, the collar is too loose and needs to be tightened.
No. Martingale collars are not house collars.
The collars are designed to provide a balance between security and comfort, so your hound can wear it for walks and outings. However, it must be removed when your hound is unsupervised or during rough play to minimise any potential risk.
If the D-ring gets stuck on a furniture piece or tree branches, your hound cannot escape out of the collar due to the martingale system.
Here at Dahound, we design our martingale collars to be wider than regular collars.
This is to distribute the pressure more evenly across your hound’s neck when the collar tightens. This wider design helps prevent discomfort or potential injury to your furry friend. Plus, it adds a touch of fashionable flair to your hound’s outfit!
So not only are Dahound martingale collars practical, but they’re also fashion-forward!
