How much exercise does a greyhound need?

The sleek appearance and lightning-fast speed of greyhounds make them one of the coolest dog breeds around. But did you know that they are also complete couch potatoes? They're called "45 mph couch potatoes" for a reason, after all, don't you think?

As they are bred and marketed as racing dogs by the industry, people are frequently shocked to learn that greyhounds are, in fact, extremely lazy and love taking long naps. Here, I'm referring to 20 hours of sleep a day.

Don’t get me wrong, greyhounds still do require exercise. They require the opportunity to run, walk and play to let all that energy out.

However, they don't require as much exercise as other dog breeds do, which makes them ideal for dog owners who are busy and don't have hours to spend with their dogs.

Every greyhound is different, just like every human is, but my two greyhounds get tired after walking for 20-30 minutes. I walk them once or twice a day, and it keeps them happy and healthy. I’m sure many greyhound owners would agree.

Greyhounds are, in a nutshell, the world's laziest dogs, but that's what makes them so wonderful. They have low energy, enjoy taking naps and require less exercise than other dog breeds of a similar size. A greyhound may be the ideal pet for you if you're seeking a loving companion that's simple to care for.
