Why do greyhounds vibrate?

Why do greyhounds vibrate?

Have you ever seen a Greyhound vibrating? This is called “chattering”. When they rapidly open and close their mouths in a quivering motion and is thought to be a sign of excitement or anticipation. It is most commonly seen when they are looking forward to something, such as a treat or a walk.
This behaviour can be a bit strange or even concerning for some people at first, because teeth chattering is often associated with discomfort or nervousness for other dog breeds.

It's important to remember that it’s a completely normal behaviour for greyhounds and a sign of a healthy, happy Greyhound. “Chattering” can be displayed by other sighthound breeds too, such as Whippets, Salukis and Italian greyhounds but it seems like it’s more common for greyhounds.

If your greyhound doesn’t chatter, it’s completely normal and there is nothing to worry about. As every person is different, every greyhound is different. I have two greyhounds and one of them chatters all the time and the other greyhound does it so subtly, I can’t even notice it most of the time.
